SHAFTER, Calif. - Officers with the California Multi-Jurisdictional Methamphetamine Enforcement Team conducted a probation search in the 200 block of Maple Avenue in Shafter Thursday at about 6 p.m.
Officers had recently received citizen complaints relating to the sales and use of drugs at the home.
During the search deputies located five subjects at the residence. During the search illegal narcotics and narcotics paraphernalia were located, officials said.
During the incident, one of the subjects attempted to flee, fought with and assaulted officers prior to being taken into custody, officials said.
Five people were arrested at the scene. Twenty-eight-year-old Rodrigo Gutierrez was arrested on charges of being in possession of a controlled substance, transportation of a controlled substance, assaulting a peace officer, and resisting arrest.
Thirty-two-year-old Israel Acosta was arrested for and outstanding warrant, and on charges of possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Gutierrez and Acosta were booked into the Kern County Sheriff’s Office Central Receiving Facility.
Fifty-one-year-old Thomas Ayers, 48-year-old Stephanie Ayers, and 26-year-old Vanessa Tedrick were arrested for various Health and Safety and Penal Code violations and released at the scene after being issued citations.
All subjects involved were from Shafter.
