BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Smaller schools often have a hard time keeping music in their budget, but a local music festival is helping them 'Let the Music Play' all year long.
The annual small school music festival was held today at Fairfax Middle School.
More than 600 students from eight different public and private schools from around the county joined in to practice together.
'Music is often one of the first things cut from schools and it hasn't been very easy for us in the last couple years so we've made it a priority that this event stay," said Superintendent Michael Coleman. "Uh it was an opportunity for the small school districts in Kern County to come together and kind of make her small voices larger for a day."
