BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - From high school sports to fighting overseas the cases of traumatic brain injuries are on the rise and one Bakersfield facility is expanding to help meet the needs of their growing number of patients.

The Neuro Skills Center is re-opening its facility in a larger building on Ashe Rd.

It is estimated that 1.7 million people suffer from traumatic brain injuries each year in the U.S.

Health experts said whether it's a football game concussion or a soldier's post traumatic stress disorder, the cases for treatment are on the rise and the Center for Neuro Skills is doubling their medical space to treat more patients.

The building is equipped with a new gym, therapy pool, and counseling areas tailored to patients with brain injuries.
