BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - After about a ten-cent jump in gas prices over the past week, a few quick tips on how to maximize mileage were released by AAA.

According to AAA experts, the easiest way to stretch your gas is to make sure that tires are inflated properly.

Correctly inflating all four tires can improve fuel economy up to three percent, which is equivalent to as much as 12 cents per gallon.

Experts also said cleaning your trunk out is another way drivers can save gas.

By cleaning out your trunk, your car moves more efficiently, according to officials.

This is the 19th straight week gas prices have continued to rise with an average 24-cent jump around the nation, according to AAA.

According to the Energy Department, drivers spend about $3,000 a year on gas.
