On Thursday, August 21, the California Highway Patrol's Kern County Auto Theft Task Force worked in unison with the Bakersfield Police Department, Kern County Sheriff's Department and State Parole in an effort to combat vehicle theft in Bakersfield.
These agencies served 43 search warrants and conducted nine compliance checks on individuals on probation or parole for vehicle theft or related crimes.
Five people were arrested and one stolen vehicle was recovered.
More joint agency details are planned for the future to decrease the rate of vehicle thefts in Kern County.
