American Society of Civil Engineers gives Kern County's infrastructure a 'C'

The American Society of Engineers gave Kern County's infrastructure an overall 'C' during their 2018 Report Card of Kern County.

The Southern San Joaquin chapter of the group looked at nine categories of infrastructure: aviation, bridges, drinking water, parks, rail, roads, solid waste, transit, and wastewater. Transit received the lowest grade of a D+, compared to a C- in 2012, while bridges received the highest grade of a B+, compared to a B- in 2012.

Each of the categories received the following grades:

Aviation: B-

Bridges: B+

Drinking water: C

Parks: D+

Rail: C+

Roads: C-

Solid waste: B

Transit: D+

Wastewater: C
