BAKERSFIELD - Several area church congregations are enjoying a free concert at the Bright House Networks Amphitheatre and it’s all part of the 4 th annual GospelFest.

The event is organized by San Joquin Community Hospital.  It brings many local Christian artists together on one stage.  This year’s headliner is ‘Sanctus Real,’ a popular Christian group that has visited Bakersfield many times before.

Officials with the hospital say GospelFest is a way for them to extend their mission of helping heal beyond hospital walls.

“You know, the great thing about this event is that churches of all denomination get together, along with non-profits from the community regardless of denomination or religious affiliation and it’s a completely free event.  Thanks to our partners that are able to help do that so, that really brings the community together and I think that's why it's so successful," said Jarrod McNauhton, vice president of marketing for San Joquin Community Hospital.

Organizers say about 4,000 people attended GospelFest last year.
