DELANO, Calif. - Delano police have arrested 49-year-old John Albay Galafate at his residence in the 1000 block of Dover Place Tuesday morning for implication in the murder of John Holguin Espinoza.
The body of 88-year-old John Espinoza was discovered in September 2013 submerged in the Friant Canal, just east of Delano.

Espinoza was a barber and WWII veteran, and he even served on Delano's Planning Commission at one point.
Delano police said Galafate was arrested for murder, kidnapping, carjacking, elderly abuse, and robbery.
The coroner's office determined the cause of death was drowning with other contributing factors of ligature strangulation and multiple blunt force trauma.
