BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Assemblyman Rudy Salas announced AB 371 passed the Assembly Environmental, Safety, and Toxic Materials Committee.
AB 371 will address the dumping of sewage (sludge) and the effects it has on the health, safety and water quality in rural areas.
"I am extremely pleased the committee voted to pass AB 371," said Salas.
"It respects the will and wishes of the voters, it protects our community and sends a clear message that the residents of Kern County shouldn't be dumped on especially when it's near our groundwater source."
AB 371 now moves to the Assembly Local Government Committee where it will be heard in the coming weeks.
