BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Officials said a teen riding an all-terrain vehicle died after a vehicle struck him Friday afternoon.

18-year-old Brenton Miller was riding a 2003 Honda TRX 3000 on a dirt road near Panama Lane, when he approached Panama Lane at a high speed and entered the street.

Upon entering the street on his ATV, 40-year-old Marvin Williams swerved and slammed on his Ford Explorer's brakes to avoid hitting Miller.

When the vehicles collided, Miller was thrown off of his ATV and landed in the roadway.

According to authorities, Miller died from his injuries while en-route to Kern Medical Center emergency room.

The accident happened west of South Enos Lane at about 5 p.m.

At this time alcohol and drugs are not being considered as a factor in this collision.
