BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The Kern County Sheriff's Department and other Kern County agencies are searching for a registered sex offender.

Authorities said Melvin Foley Jr. is on parole for child molestation.

He was released from the Kern County Sheriff’s Office Lerdo Jail on November 5, and failed to report to his parole officer, officials said.

His whereabouts are unknown.

Foley Jr. is known to frequent the east Bakersfield area, officials said.
