Bakersfield anti-marijuana dispensary ordinance to take effect without resistance
Opponents failed to turn in signatures

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - It appears a controversial Bakersfield anti-pot ordinance will go on the books without a challenge from pro-marijuana groups.
The Californian reports opponents didn't turn in signatures by yesterday's deadline, which would have stopped the ordinance and forced city leaders to put it to the voters.
The ordinance will give the city the power to shut down a dispensary, once a complaint is filed against a pot shop.
It takes effect on Thursday.
