BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Biking in the city of Bakersfield can be very unsafe for both the cyclist and cars on the road, but a new app "Bakersfield Bikes" shows safe bike routes and trails cyclists can use while navigating around town.
Snider's Cyclery teamed up with My City Bikes, a public health initiative, to launch the app last month. Their goal was to provide a mobile guide to Bakersfield's beginner-friendly cycling opportunities.
"It tells you where all of the bike routes are and where all of the streets that have lanes on them are," says Tina Chapa of Snider's. "It walks you through the Kern River Parkway trail and gives you different routes that bicyclists take."
The app is available in the app store for iPhones and Androids.
