Bakersfield car fire spread to home, resulting in about $20K damage

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - An East Bakersfield couple managed to escape their burning home during an early morning blaze.

On Feb. 26, at about 2 a.m., firefighters with the Kern County Fire Department went to Lake Street regarding a car fire.

Crews said a car parked outside a house went up in flames and spread to part of the building.

Officials said they had the flames knocked down in a short amount of time.

There were no reports on injuries and damage to the home is estimated at $20,000.
