Bakersfield carjacking suspect arrested

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - A local man is in jail this morning after Bakersfield police officers said he pulled a person out of a car and drove away.

23ABC News cameras were there when officers caught up with 35-year-old Jason Keplinger, outside the 1st Pentacostal Church on West Columbus Street.

The Bakersfield Police Department said Keplinger carjacked another person at 8:15 last night at the FoodMaxx on Chester Avenue.

He led officers on a short chase which came to an end when he jumped out of the car and ran inside the church, where he was arrested. 

Keplinger has been booked on carjacking and felony evading charges.
