Bakersfield celebrates 'Arbor Day' by planting lots of trees

City has been recognized as "Tree City" since 1997

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - When was the last time you planted a tree?

The Bakersfield Department of Recreation and Parks will celebrate Arbor Day, which lands on the last Friday of the month of  April, to commemorate the city of Bakersfield as being recognized a "Tree City USA" for the 17th year on Saturday, March 22 at 8:30 a.m.

The BDRP will be planting 50 trees, including sycamores, oaks and Chinese pistache trees. 

The planting location will be the State Farm Sports Village, located on 9001 Ashe Road.
