The legislative and litigation committee has decided to permanently table an ordinance that would have allowed an abortion patient's family member to sue the abortion provider.

The city attorney told council members that type of ordinance could have put the city at risk of lawsuits.

Instead, the council asked staff members to draw up a resolution so they can make a symbolic stance.

The resolution will now go before the full council later this year.
