BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – After being closed for nearly two years, a grand re-opening is in order for a local fire station as we begin to approach fire season.

Located on 2213 University Avenue, near Bakersfield, College, Fire Station 8 is another great resource for the Bakersfield Fire Department.

BFD will host an open house along with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

The station originally opened its door and began serving the citizens of Bakersfield in 1956.

In the summer of 2015, the station entered the remodeling process. The equipment at this station was relocated to another station on Panorama Drive. So, service in the area was not compromised.

The grand re-opening ceremony and open house begins at 10:30 this morning and will be open to the public until 1 this afternoon.
