BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The Bakersfield City School District hosted its annual Teddy Bear Picnic Luncheon to help fund classroom grants for district teachers.
The luncheon brought in hundreds of people to help support the district and its students. Every penny of the proceeds go into classrooms to help support different innovative projects.
The luncheon was held at the Double Tree Hotel, today. Each ticket was $30 and included a lunch and the opportunity to bid on over 75 teddy bear-themed gift baskets, donated to the Educational Foundation.
Teachers are provided several grants through the BCSD Educational Foundation that can range anywhere from $300 to $2,000.
Academic projects vary from the Kindergarten Scientists where students have hands-on science experiments to family literacy projects.
