BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The Bakersfield College Foundation will award nearly $400,000 in scholarships to 415 deserving students at the 57th Annual Honor Reception event on Friday, May 3.
The Honor Reception provides an opportunity for students, families, philanthropists and Bakersfield College representatives to celebrate academic excellence and dedication to higher education.
"Many Bakersfield College students work to support their families or afford their education," said Primavera Arvizu, Director of Financial Aid for Bakersfield College. "Through scholarships and other academic awards, Bakersfield College is able, in a small way, to help alleviate some of the stress associated with affording a college degree."
Of the 415 scholarships to be awarded on Friday the average scholarship amount is $800 - which covers a full year of fees at Bakersfield College.
The Bakersfield College Honor Reception will take place at 5 p.m., in the Bakersfield College Gymnasium.
