BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Bakersfield College Vet Club invites local veterans to take advantage of a GI bill workshop Thursday.
The workshop is set up to help veterans who need help filling out the necessary paper work that is needed to receive GI bill benefits.
Vet club president, Wesley Barrientos, explained how hard it is for veterans to transition from being a soldier to a civilian.
"There are basically no jobs for people with a high school diploma that are coming out of the military," Barrientos said.
The Bakersfield College student said that the GI bill is important to vets trying to get an education. Currently, there are 300 students at BC under the bill.
Vet need to bring their DD214, any college transcript and an ID.
The workshop runs until 2 p.m. today at the Student Services Building 151.
