Bakersfield College student nearly robbed on college campus

Suspect brandished knife during attempted robbery

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - A Bakersfield College student was held at knife-point Tuesday afternoon.

On April 9, at about 12:30 p.m., a suspect allegedly approached the victim in the southeast parking lot at the corner of Mt. Vernon Avenue and University Avenue on Bakersfield College's Panorama Campus.

The suspect reportedly asked for money and when the student refused to give him any, the suspect brandished a knife.

The suspect was last reportedly seen moving southbound from the campus on Mt. Vernon Avenue.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic man in his 20s, with a dirty appearance.

Bakersfield College's Public Safety Department is working in conjunction with the Bakersfield Police Department.  Anyone with information regarding this attempted robbery, call the BPD at 327-7111.
