Man lost battle to cancer after year

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The community came together over the weekend to remember a local man who spent his life fighting for Veteran's Rights.
Veterans and non-veterans put together a motorcycle ride to honor the life of 63-year-old Vernon Valenzuela.
He lost his battle with cancer one-year-ago.
Valenzuela was a key figure in building the local vet center and helping veterans with PTSD.
And even though its been a year since his death, his legacy in the community lives on.
Those who knew Valenzuela said they will work to carry on his vision.
