BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - UPDATE:  Bakersfield Fire confirms the structure was an abandoned home.  The cause of the fire is under investigation, and damages are estimated at $125,000. 

A fire in East Bakersfield engulfed an abandoned house in flames on Wednesday.

On Feb. 27, at about 11:30 a.m., firefighters with the Bakersfield Fire Department went to Kentucky Street regarding a house fire.

Officials said that 50 percent of the house was succumbed in smoke and flames.

The BFD called in reinforcement for help in extinguishing the fire.

The arson unit was called out to the scene to investigate.

Officials said this is the second fire that has occurred at this abandoned house.
