BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The Bakersfield Fire Department is scheduled to conduct a Trench Rescue Drill at the corner of Cottonwood Road and Watts Drive tonight.

On Dec. 5, at about 7 p.m., the night drills that culminate the BFD's yearly training plan and incorporate various shoring techniques, confined space rescue, and hazardous materials response will be held.

Trench rescues can be some of the most complex, labor intensive and dangerous operations that firefighters perform, authorities said.
