Frying process is 'more dangerous'

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The Bakersfield Fire Department hosted a live Turkey Fryer Safety demonstration on Wednesday morning.
Traditional turkey cooking methods now include the practice of deep-frying.
This process is inherently more dangerous than oven-based methods and can result in fire and burn injury related accidents. At the demonstration, the BFD showed what happened if one tried frying a frozen turkey.
To reduce the likelihood of those accidents, several basic areas of safety should be reviewed and adhered to when deep-frying a turkey.
