Bakersfield Fire Dept. to hold meeting on carbon monoxide laws

9 out of 10 residents don't have mandatory alarm

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - It's an alarm that could save a life and now it's a law that you have one.

As of January 1, it's the law to have your landlord install a carbon monoxide alarm for you.

A recent study found that nearly 9 in 10 California households do not have an alarm.

The Bakersfield Fire Department will be holding a informational meeting about the importance of tenants to comply with the new law.

It will be held at Fire Station 5, off White Lane at 10 a.m.
