BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - A kitchen and garage were destroyed in a house fire, according to the Bakersfield Fire Department.
On Tuesday, March 26, at about 3:00 a.m., officers with the BFD went to a house on Cheatham Street regarding house fire.
Officers said when they arrived to the house, heavy fire was seen flowing from the house.
After investigation, the BFD said they found heavy fire in the kitchen and attached garage, and had spread to some of the attic.
The BFD crew said they used multiple hose lines in order to attack the fire.
The coordinated attack brought the fire under control in 15 minutes, according to officials.
Officials said the house received heavy damage to the kitchen, garage, and some of the attic. The damage is estimated to be about $50,000 worth.
One firefighter injury was reported, according to the BFD report. The firefighter received second-degree burns to his knees, neck, and wrist.
The firefighter was immediately taken to San Joaquin Hospital where he was treated for his injuries.
No other people were injured.
