Bakersfield girl to lobby in Washington for diabetes research funds

Girl fights juvenile diabetes in Washington

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - A Bakersfield girl is taking her fight against juvenile diabetes all the way to Washington.

11 year-old Eileen Roux wanted her voice to be heard, so she wrote an essay and sent it to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation

Out of hundreds of submissions, she is one of the few selected to be a part of the Children's Congress.

Now she and her father will travel to Washington in two weeks and stand before Congress and ask that they continue to support funding for Type 1 diabetes so that research can lead to a cure.
