BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - A Bakersfield girl celebrated her birthday Monday with an overwhelming birthday gift.
Emma Ritter, 6, was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis when she was only 18 months old. Emma was in the hospital for her birthday in Madera.
Emma had one birthday wish -- 100 birthday cards. Her wish came true many times over.
The hospital reported delivering three carts full of cards and gifts for Emma. The total will be in the thousands, along with gifts, balloons, and flowers.
Matt Ritter, Emma's father, said that over 500 cards were delivered over the weekend and many more arrived today.
Many wished her well on her Facebook page, called Emma's Army.
