BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - In honor of Earth month some Bakersfield groups are trying to raise awareness about clean water.
Aveda employees and other members of the community were out "Walking for Water" on Saturday afternoon.
The goal of the event was to raise money and awareness about people in third world countries that do not have access to clean water.
"Meaning that these poor people are actually walking kilometers and miles to rivers and streams and lakes to go and fill up buckets of dirty contaminated water just to walk all the way back to their home to use it for bathing and cooking but even then it doesn't guarantee the water is safe," said Azure Ross with Aveda.
This is the first year of the event but they hope to do it again next year.
