BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - A Hooters employee is grateful for helpful with her breast cancer treatment, thanks to a fundraiser at six restaurants.
The campaign, Dollars for Deanna, benefited Bakersfield Hooters restaurant general manager Deanna Arellano. Arellano found out she had cancer earlier this year by a phone call from her doctor.
Five California restaurants and one in Hawaii asked customers to add one dollar to their beer pitcher purchase to go to Dollars for Deanna.
The fundraiser started in early September, through October, which is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Arellano wants to make sure her story raises awareness, as she encourages women "to get it checked."
The fundraiser raised $4,687.69 for Deanna's treatments.
