Bakersfield hound going for top dog at national Dachshund race in San Diego

SAN DIEGO, Calif. - A Bakersfield pooch is heading to a big Dachshund dash at the end of December.

Frank Furter, owned by Stevi and Jesse Hernandez, hope to bring home "Top Dog" honors at the 18th Annual Wiener National Finals in San Diego.

Frank Furter is one of nine dogs from regions across the country who will compete on Dec. 30 at the San Diego Big Bay Balloon Parade.

The grand prize is $1,000 and recognition at the Holiday Bowl parade.

Frank Furter qualified at the local race at the Kern County Fair at the end of September.
