BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Damage is estimated at $80,000 after a house fire broke out in Bakersfield last night.
On Monday, April 29, at about 9:30 p.m., crew with the Bakersfield Fire Department went to the 2000 block of Custer Avenue regarding a house fire.
First arriving crews said they saw fire showing from a bedroom window and smoke emanating from the attic of a house structure.
Officials said the home appeared to be vacant, but previously occupied by unknown people.
Fire crews deployed multiple hose lines to attack the fire, along with truck crews conducting ventilation of the home to remove smoke and heat.
The coordinated attack brought the fire under control in about 15 minutes, according to officials. Damage was estimated at $80,000. No civilian or firefighter injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
