BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Two residents of a Bakersfield house fire escaped safely as fire crews fought to contain said fire.
On July, 13 at about 9:30 p.m., firefighters with the Kern County Fire Department went to Mezzadro Avenue in northwest Bakersfield regarding a house fire.
On arrival, fire crews were faced with a developing fire in the garage and smoke coming from the roof. Firefighters made entry to the garage; simultaneously ventilating the roof.
Due to their swift actions the fire was contained to the garage which housed 2 vehicles. There was some smoke damage throughout the home.
Residents were at home at the time of the fire and escaped without injury. They were made aware of the fire when they heard muffled popping sounds from that area
