BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The cause and manner of an infant's death has been released after seven months.
The Kern County Sheriff's Coroner announced yesterday that 8-month-old Alfredo Jesus Jacobo's death was a homicide after he died of blunt force traumatic injuries to the head and face.
On Sept. 22, 2012, deputies with the Kern County Sheriff's Office went to the 3000 block of Lake Street in Bakersfield when the child was said to be unresponsive. The infant was taken to the Children's Hospital of Central California where he succumbed to his injuries.
On April 29, a report card regarding child abuse in Kern County was released in which it stated:
Younger children, particularly infants younger than one-year-old, are the most vulnerable to abuse and neglect at a rate nearly three times the county's overall rate.
