BAKERSFIELD - A deal is in the works for the Bakersfield Jam to hold an exclusive affiliation with the Phoenix Suns.
The D-League Jam is currently affiliated with the Utah Jazz, Toronto Raptors, Los Angeles Clippers and Atlanta Hawks in addition to the Suns.
An agreement will be finalized next week, according to AZCentral Sports writer Paul Coro.
23ABC reached out to the Bakersfield Jam and the Phoenix Suns. Both organizations said they cannot comment.
The Suns will finance the Jam and have control of players' training, coaching staff and more.
The Suns will be the 15th NBA team to have a single-affiliation relationship with a D-League team like the Jam.
The Suns can have up to 15 players on their roster and keep a player on the roster while he is assigned to Bakersfield. Players without much play time can develop with the Jam.
