Bakersfield man arrested after short car chase with police

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Deputies arrested a suspect on multiple charges after a short car chase in Bakersfield.
On July 24, deputies went to the 500 block of Plymouth St in Oildale regarding a report of domestic violence.
After investigation, deputies discovered that 25-year-old Daniel Guzman-Bartel was the suspect in the domestic violence report.
Deputies from the Gang Suppression Section found Bartel driving a stolen vehicle in the 600 block of Sharon Place. Bartel led deputies on a short vehicle pursuit that ended when Bartel’s vehicle collided with a chain link fence at the intersection of Date St and Belle Ave. Bartel fled from the vehicle and was chased by deputies.
With the assistance of a Sheriff’s K-9 and Air Support, Bartel was taken into custody after a struggle with a Sheriff’s K-9.
After Bartel was treated for his injuries, he was booked into the Kern County Jail for charges which included domestic violence, criminal threats, possession of a stolen vehicle, failure to yield causing property damage, hit and run, possession of burglary tools and resisting arrest.
Bartel also had three outstanding felony warrants and four outstanding misdemeanor warrants for his arrest.
