Bakersfield man attacked with tree branch following car crash

Happened early Thursday in East Bakersfield

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - A Bakersfield man is recovering at a local hospital after he was assaulted with a large branch following a car accident early Thursday morning.

The accident happened at 2:05 a.m. at the intersection of Flower Street & Haley Street, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The victim, who has not been identified, was rammed by the driver of another car. Both men then got out of their vehicles and confronted each other.

Officers say during that confrontation, the driver who caused the accident grabbed a nearby branch and struck the victim in the head.

The victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment. The suspected attacker was detained at the scene.
