BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - A man has died this morning after being hit by a car in Bakersfield.
On April 29, at about 9:15 a.m., officers with the Bakersfield Police Department went to 9th Street and Union Ave. regarding a pedestrian that was hit by a car.
When officials arrived they had learned that 51-year-old Charlotte Gonzales, the driver of a gray GMC Terrain, was traveling northbound on Union Avenue. A man, later identified as 63-year-old Timothy Walker, was crossing Union Avenue when he was hit by her car.
Walker was taken to Kern Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
There is nothing to indicate Gonzales was under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Gonzales was uninjured and was released from the scene.
Officials said Walker was not in a crosswalk when he was hit.
This investigation is ongoing.
