BAKERSFIELD, Calif. -
A man was arrested after he struck a vehicle and was ejected from his car Thursday night.
On Jan. 3, at about 9:30 p.m., officers from the Bakersfield Police Department went to Truxtun Avenue regarding a vehicle accident with injuries.
Investigating officials said a white minivan was stopped at a red traffic light at the intersection of Truxtun Avenue and Eye Street and when the light changed to green, a second vehicle on Truxtun Ave., sideswiped the driver’s side of the minivan.
The second vehicle, a maroon Chevrolet Tahoe, lost control and struck a raised concrete planter on Truxtun Ave.
The driver of the Tahoe, Jose Canchola, was ejected from the vehicle. He was taken to a local hospital with moderate injuries. The driver of the minivan was also taken to a local hospital for a complaint of pain.
Canchola was arrested for driving under the influence and driving without a license.
The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with further information should contact the Bakersfield Police Department at 327-7111.
