BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - One of the men convicted in the death of an elderly woman outside an east Bakersfield supermarket has been sentenced.
Lawrence Slaughter was sentenced to life without parole at Wasco State Prison for his role in the murder of 72-year-old Guadalupe Ramos back in August 2012.
During the robbery outside a Foods Co. on Haley Street, investigators said Slaughter knocked Ramos to the ground.
The impact triggered a heart attack, killing her.
Maxamillon McDonald was also convicted and sentenced earlier this month.
