BAKERSFIELD, Calif. -  

Bakersfield Police said they arrived at the 900 block of Kentucky Street when they said they received a call that gunshots were heard.

Officers said on Saturday February 16 at 3 a.m.,  they found a Hispanic male adult who was shot.

Officials said the man was transported to Kern Medical Center where he later died.

The name of the victim is not being released.

Officials say it is unknown at this time if the shooting was gang related.  The investigation is ongoing.

The Bakersfield Police Department is asking anybody with information about the shooting to contact the Bakersfield Police Department at 327-7111, or Detective Sean Morphis at 326-3871.
