Bakersfield man suffers serious injuries from car crash

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. -  

A man is suffering from major injuries after a car crash this morning.

On Monday, April 8, at 7:22 a.m., officers of the Bakersfield Police Department went to the 6200 block of District Boulevard regarding a car crash.  

Officers said they discovered that a 1997 Mazda minivan turned left in front of a westbound 1988 Ford delivery truck, causing the collision.

The driver and sole occupant of the minivan 54-year-old Matt Wayne Summers, of Bakersfield, suffered serious injuries. He was taken to a local hospital and remains in serious condition. 

The driver of the delivery truck 53-year-old Dale Emerson, of Bakersfield, suffered a minor laceration and refused medical aid at the scene.

The investigation is on-going.
