BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - For many, Labor Day Weekend is a time to celebrate the end of summer, but barbecues and parties are not the only thing at full force.
Saturday night's DUI and driver license checkpoint crack down netted in:
- 7 DUI arrests.
- 44 drivers were found without a valid driver license
- 16 were found to have a suspended license.
Overall, the BPD impounded 44 vehicles.
Mother's Against Drunk Driving (MADD) says that on average, someone is killed by a drunk driver every 51 minutes. On the Labor Day weekend, that number jumps to every 34 minutes.
