BAKERSFIELD - A Bakersfield man died this evening after a shooting in East Bakersfield.
Bakersfield Police said the shooting took place around 6:20 p.m. this evening, on the 500 block of Martin Luther King Junior Boulevard, in front of Roy's Market.
After the shooting 21-year-old Floyd Beam of Bakersfield was transported to the Kern Medical Center Emergency Room where he later died, according to the Kern County Sheriff's Office. The shooting is being considered a homicide.
"Officers located an adult male laying down on the sidewalk," Sergeant Jason Townsend. "He had multiple gun shot wounds, he was transported to a local hospital with major injuries."
BPD is describing the suspects as "two black males" and had no further details on them at this time. The suspects are believed to have ran east, away from the shooting, but police are unsure where they eventually headed.
