BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - A man was arrested after officials learned he was having a sexual affair with a juvenile and was planning to take her to Florida.
On August 14, at about 4:45 p.m., the Bakersfield Police Department received information that 63-year-old William Wesley Deyoe Jr., was in a sexual relationship with a 14-year-old girl.
Officials said the investigation revealed Deyoe had met the girl through an internet site and established a relationship with her. During their meetings, officials said Deyoe and the victim allegedly had unlawful sexual intercourse.
The investigation also found that Deyoe, a truck driver, was planning to drive the girl to Florida on his next trip that was two days away, officials said.
Officials said the girl was found and not harmed.
Deyoe was arrested for lewd acts with a child, unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. He was booked in the Kern County Jail.
The investigation is ongoing.
