BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - A Bakersfield police officer escaped serious injury after a fleeing suspect caused a three-car crash.

BPD officials tell 23ABC that the officer was setting up a spike strip at the intersection of  White Lane & South H Street in southwest Bakersfield at about 6:00 a.m. Wednesday morning when the accident happened.

Officials also say the officer wasn't injured, but at least one person was taken to the hospital with unknown injuries.

The officer's identity hasn't been released.
