BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - An officer was taken to a local hospital after he was struck by a vehicle today.
On May 8, at about 11:30 a.m., officers went to Brundage Lane regarding an officer down.
When officers with the Bakersfield Police Department arrived, they found a motorcycle officer, later identified as Christopher Bagby, on the ground.
According to reports, a woman, 62-year-old Helen Rose, was traveling eastbound on Brundage Lane when she made a left turn in in front of Bagby. Bagby was traveling westbound.
Bagby said he used evasive driving techniques to avoid striking the women's vehicle, but he crashed causing minor injuries.
The officer was taken to Mercy Hospital.
