BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Bakersfield's Relay for Life kicked-off its annual festivities with a celebration ceremony highlighting cancer survivors Saturday.
The celebration featured speakers from the American Cancer Society along with survivor stories.
It was a time for people around the community to build there teams, sign up for the event and start raising money.
Currently, there are 200 teams signed up for the 23rd Annual Bakersfield Relay for Life, but event coordinators said they still need 200 more.
Bakersfield's Relay for Life is one of the largest relay's in the world. The community was able to come together and raise close to $1.7 million last year.
This year's relay will be held on May 3-4.
